Practicing a sport brings lots of benefits; developing self-esteem and confidence, academic excellence and improving social skills.
An athlete always has a goal, a victory to look for and knows that only working hard it could be reached.
Sports allow us to learn that in order to win; preparation, discipline, perseverance, and willingness are the characteristics needed to become a successful athlete.
On the other hand, sports also make us to be more strict with ourselves, in fact it helps to set rules, priorities, and forces us to accomplish the desired goals. To make a child become motivated, it is important he or she visualizes her- his favorite sport. If the sport involves more people, it is crucial to be with children of the same age besides having an enthusiastic coach.
One discouraging factor could be to impose a sport without taking into account her or his abilities. Being under parents´ pressure makes a child to feel an incompetent person, what matters is participating and playing, feeling satisfied
